My Dell Precision 450 completes POST and offers F2 Setup, or F12 Boot Menu.
Whatever I choose and also if I do nothing, I get a blank screen with a flashing cursor and the diagnostic lights on the front stay on A & B steady green and C & D steady yellow.
This goes on for 3 - 5 minutes, then boot up continues.. I am trying to reinstall Windows XP Pro and this delay causes it to restart the installation every time this delay occurs on restarting the PC, which happens routinely during the install. This makes the reinstall impossible.
The PC is a Dell Precision 450 Workstation built 2003
Two twin core Intel Xeon 2.8GHz CPUs
2GB PC2100 DDR Memory
ATI Radeon AGP 512 MB Graphics Card
Two Seagate 160 GB IDE HDDs, (1 with Ubuntu, the other Windows XP Pro SP 3) I have tried master/slave in both directions and cable select but this has no effect on the delay.
1 DVD RW+- and RAM
1 CD R/DVD ROM
PSU 360W tested fuly functional.
I will run the TSG Sysinfo in the morning, assuming it will run in UBUNTU, and post the results. It takes a bit of time because I have to transfer from one PC to another as the Dell is not internet connected until I get Windows up and running.
Any ideas will be most welcome.
